I'm making an independent movie that I wrote and will direct...My friends are pretty much gonna do some of the main parts and i'm trying to get a bunch of people into...Its crazy...We've got lights, a nice camera, programs for editting, but sound is our biggest issue...I think I'm gonna get an auditechnica shotgun mic. ANyone have any recording experience with audiotechnica? Just wanna make sure its right...I've heard some good things about it, so yeah...I emailed Ray a while back asking if I could use his music for the movie, so I'm lookin forward to it....though I'm not sure when it will be completed...Hopefully by Halloween. WE'll see, but thanks again.

Im thinking about the atr-55...I think that's what it is...something like that, I cant quite remember, but its under 100 bucks, and thats one of the main reasons for it. Hehe....But it only shoots in mono, but its still a huge improvement over our crappy camcorder mics.

Hey, I'm Ray's Cus and shoot commercials and documentarys for a post-house in SA, the Audiotechnicas are good mic's you just want to make sure they have an option to switch between an uni- and an omni- directional feed, that will help your sound quality in the end when it comes to editing. Good Luck!

Yeah, it's got an option for uni and omni...but it only shoots in mono sound. There was another audiotechnica i was looking at that was just a regular condenser mic that shot in stereo, the Audio-Technica PRO 24 XY Stereo Condenser Microphone, and that seemed nice....Im not sure which one would be better to get or if I should get both. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I guess it just depends on what you are looking for, do you really NEED a stereo mic for your film?

Not really, but whatever works best I guess for recording. I just want good sound, pretty mouch, and I wasn't sure if the stereo condensor would work and have enough of a recording area or if just sticking with the shotgun would be best since it can easily record long distance and short distance.
